the cover series, 2023-24
I started my studio practice in 2023 by studying Modernist traditions of abstract painting, often re-imagined in textiles and other untraditional media including vinyl, decals, masking tape, embroidery thread, mohair, silk and recycled fabrics.
The Cover Series re-imagines abstract art by noted Modernists — Sophie Tauber-Arp, Agnes Martin, On Kawara, Bridget Riley, Josef Albers — in alternative non-painterly media: a silk-pleated Riley, a quilted Albers, an embroidered Lucio Fontana, a Mark Rothko mohair tapestry.
